Research Reports

The research reports will be published as a NASA Conference Proceeding on CD-Rom. The report will also be posted at the Marshall Technical Reports Server web site as soon as possible after the conference. A copy of the CD-Rom will be made available at the conference if possible or shipped later to the participants. The research report should contain a discussion of only that work funded under your current NASA project. Since the abstracts and research reports are expected to focus exclusively on your NASA Microgravity Research Division-funded research, you may borrow, as needed, from other written material you have prepared for publication or as part of another review.

Format for research reports: The report format is identical to the two-page abstract (see template), except that the page limit becomes six and the report can include figures, tables, photos, references, etc. Other suggestions are that you should number your references in the order of their appearance in the report, but do not reference future publications unless they have been accepted for publication; cite figures, tables, and diagrams in the order of their appearance in the report; include a caption (with the appropriate reference number) for all figures, tables, and diagrams. Since the Conference Proceeding will be published on CD-Rom you may use color for the research report.

Author's Checklist and notes on ftp upload

1. Prepare your research report in Microsoft Word in camera-ready form (exactly as you want them to appear in print). Also create a separate file/s for figures and images. If you use some other word processor, use the ‘Save As’ feature to convert to Microsoft Word. Please contact us if you have a problem!

2. Be sure to upload all documents as Binary.

3. Know your ID#. For oral presentations (Talks), the numbers begin with a T; eg. T01. For Poster presentations the ID numbers begin with a P; eg P01.

3. Create your own folder (directory) at the ftp site. Use your identifying ID number to name the folder. Place a copy of the research report as you would like it to appear (complete with text and images) in the folder. In addition, create a separate subfolder containing only your individual image files (charts, graphs, tables, etc). Number the images in the order of their appearance in the paper. All image files must be of publishable quality-300 dpi minimum. Poor quality images can not be enhanced.

4. Be sure all figures, images, etc. have captions.

5. The ftp site is a write-only server; you will not be able to retrieve any files you upload. You will not be able to overwrite your files once you upload them.

6. Mail a hardcopy of your final report to:
