Just Surfin': Welcome! The Space Sciences Laboratory is a NASA group that performs basic scientific research in the fields of astronomy, low-gravity science (industry and biophysics in space), and Earth Science. Read on...

Students: Our home page shows the major fields of the space sciences we do. They are Earth Science, the Sun/Earth Connection, Astronomy, and Low-Gravity Science. Click on the Earth from the home page, for example, and we show the branches of Earth Science that we do. One more click and we explain what we study and why it's important. One more click below that will get you to the researchers pages. At that point, we can't guarantee you'll understand everything you see!

We are building a series of tutorials based on our research in astronomy, Earth science, and low-gravity science. Take a look here for help on some space sciences concepts.

If you're interested in becoming a scientist, you'll be happy to know that scientists don't wear short pants, glasses, and pocket protectors. (Okay, okay - MOST scientists don't ...) SSL researchers come from all parts of the planet and have all kinds of backgrounds. If you want to see if we have any scientists from your state, try the hometown page, or for more personal stories, try the people page.

Researchers: Hit the "access by organization" button on the home page for division/discipline related information. The "research" button on the home page provides a table of contents for links to research topics, and also to various scientific abstract searches available to the public.

SSL Employees: Hit the "access by organization" button on the home page for division related information. Put a bookmark to "SSL IntrAnet Pages " for quick access to meeting announcements, proposal opportunities and information, and computer services. A Marshall domain userid and password is required to access the SSL IntrAnet.
