This Earth Venture-1 program element solicits proposals for complete suborbital, principal investigator-led investigations to conduct innovative, integrated, hypothesis or scientific question driven approaches to pressing Earth system science issues. These new investigations will be competitively selected to provide opportunity for investment in innovative Earth system science to enhance our capability to better understand the current state of the Earth and predict future change.
Amendment 19 announces that the requirement to address the use of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 funds has been removed from the text of A.39 of ROSES-2009, ESSP Venture-class Science Investigations: Earth Venture-1. The appropriate use of ARRA funds will be determined after selection, based on the unique aspects of each selected investigation. The requirements for the use of ARRA funds will be worked with each selected P.I. and the proposing institution during contract negotiations. Any additional work and cost identified that are associated with the requirements of ARRA will be added to the negotiated scope of work, and the award funding will be increased accordingly.
There is no change in the Earth Venture-1 due date. Proposals are still due on November 6, 2009.
