The European Space Agency (ESA) is studying Euclid, a space-based dark energy and cosmology research mission, as one candidate mission in its Cosmic Vision 2015-2025 program. This solicitation invites proposals for Principal Investigator (PI)-led science investigations using ESA’s Euclid mission. The selected PI will serve on the Euclid Science Team (EST) and have full data rights to the Euclid flight data. The development of flight hardware and ground-system software is not solicited.
The science investigation contribution from NASA shall include the provision of two NASA Principal Investigators (PIs) who will become members of the Euclid Science Team. NASA is soliciting two types of proposals: (1) An investigation to be led by a Euclid Survey Scientist with expertise in at least one of the established major methods for dark energy research and/or else with demonstrated expertise in a new method of dark energy research that uses Euclid data; and (2) An investigation to be led by an Instrument Scientist for the Near-Infrared Spectrograph/Photometer with expertise in near-infrared photometry, especially near-infrared photometry from space.
Notices of Intent to propose to Appendix D.12: Members of the Euclid Science Team, are due November 17, 2010. Proposals are due December 20, 2010. Table 2 and Table 3 of the Summary of Solicitation for this NRA have been updated to reflect this change.
