ROSES 2010 Clarifications, corrections and amendments C.19 Clarification

Description: Extra-solar planet detection methods and instruments are not solicited by the Astrobiology Science and Technology for Instrument Development (ASTID) Program.

Although the identification and characterization of habitable worlds orbiting stars other than our own is an important objective of astrobiology, the Planetary Science Division no longer supports missions pursuing this objective. Proposals to develop instruments or techniques for the identification and characterization of extra-solar planets should not be submitted to the ASTID program; proposals in these areas should be submitted to either the Astrophysics Research and Analysis Program (Appendix D.3) or the Strategic Astrophysics Technology Program (Appendix D.11).

Questions concerning this program may be addressed to Michael New - (202) 358-1766.
