ROSES 2013 Clarifications, corrections and amendments Amendment 30: Appendix D.6, Fermi Cycle 7, change to sky-survey strategy, expected awards, and proposal due date

Description: Modifications to the standard sky-survey mode utilized during Cycles 1-6 may be implemented during Cycle 7. Proposers should be aware of possible implications for their proposed investigations, although these are expected to be minimal. Details are provided in Section 1.2 and in accompanying web-based materials. Sequestration in fiscal year 2013 and lowered future planning budgets mean that less funding will be available to support new Guest Investigations, see Sections 2.1 and 3. The due date for proposals has been changed to January 31, 2014.

The Fermi Guest Investigator (GI) program solicits proposals for basic research relevant to the Fermi mission. The primary goal of this mission is to perform 20 MeV to >300 GeV gamma-ray measurements over the entire celestial sphere, with sensitivity a factor of 30 or more greater than that obtained by earlier space missions. A secondary goal includes the study of transient gamma-ray sources with energies extending from 8 keV up to 300 GeV.

This Amendment makes various changes to Appendix D.6, Fermi Cycle 7. Modifications to the standard sky-survey mode utilized during Cycles 1-6 may be implemented during Cycle 7. Proposers should be aware of possible implications for their proposed investigations, although these are expected to be minimal. Details are provided in Section 1.2 of Appendix D.6 and in accompanying web-based materials. Sequestration in fiscal year 2013 and lowered future planning budgets mean that less funding will be available to support new Guest Investigations, see Sections 2.1 and 3 of Appendix D.6. The due date for proposals has been changed to January 31, 2014.
