Dr. Maura Hagan
Maura Hagan is the Deputy Director of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and a Senior Scientist in the NCAR High Altitude Observatory. Dr. Hagan was awarded a B.A. in physics from Emmanuel College in 1975, and both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physics from Boston College in 1980 and 1986, respectively. Prior to joining NCAR in 1992, Dr. Hagan was on the staff of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Haystack Observatory. Her research interests are centered on investigations of the mesosphere, thermosphere and ionosphere with emphases on the coupling between these atmospheric regions, including the upward propagating effects of tides and planetary waves and the downward penetration of space weather effects. Dr. Hagan is a fellow of the the American Geophysical Union and the American Meteorological Society. She has authored or co-authored more than 100 refereed publications.
