It was a frustrating evening ... I take a Workshop at Jodrell Bank on every first Tuesday of the month, and last month we billed the TLE as a fantastic opportunity. We did count on the weather being co-operative, but alas no. I arrived home at 2300, to see faint brightenings in the cloud cover. I hastily got my Nikon 5700 with 1.5x teleconverter and shot about 8 .5 second *hand-held* images. I think the cloud really adds to the 'atmospheric' feel of the image.

I was really lucky with these, because right after totality, the sky began to get cloudy. Image taken with a Canon S45 through a Meade ETX-105. First pic is taken at 1/100 sec, ISO 50, and the second one is at 15 seconds ISO 100

During much of the eclipse the sky was overcast. Couple of minutes before the end of totality lower clouds started vanishing, but Cirrus still was covering whole sky. Near the end of partial eclipse Cirrus allowed me to take advantage of full zoom of my digicam.

Observers in Hong Kong were unfortunate that the clear sky became cloudy just at the begining of the lunar eclipse.
