Summary: According to folklore, October's full moon is called the "Blood Moon." That's appropriate. On Oct. 27th and 28th, 2004, the full Moon turned blood red when it passed through Earth's shadow. [full story]

What a great eclipse!! A nice red-orange was observed during totality. Photos were taken with a Canon Digital Rebel (ISO setting of 400) at prime focus of a Celestron C-8 using a f/6.3 focal reducer.

What are the odds of an aircraft passing in front of an eclipsed Moon? Well here it is! Taken after umbral contact and before the total eclipse began.

Tonight was my first time photographing a lunar eclipse! This is a composite of some of the images that I took. I used a Nikon D70 and a 300mm f2 lens with a 1.4x teleconverter. The exposures ranged from 1/5000 of a second down to 4 seconds.

The colors in this eclipse were fascinating! Not only did I see the red of the eclipse, but before totality, in the shadows there were blue and green hues that were observed. Absolutely stunning! Images were taken with a Canon Powershot A75, 8' SkyQuest, and camera adapter from Orion.
