On June 21, 2001 from Lusaka, Zambia, teacher Elizabeth Simmons joined Mitzi Adams to report on the first total solar eclipse of the millennium. Groups of Girl Scouts stayed overnight in planetaria in Atlanta, Huntsville, and Kentucky so they could vicariously experience the eclipse with Simmons and Adams. Armed also with the Internet and NASA TV, the girls followed the progress of the eclipse as Simmons and Adams reported via telecon. Our colloquium discussion will include objectives of the project, photos of the event (including the eclipse!), problems encountered, and plans for the future.
