UVI Electronic Stack


The Ultraviolet Imager Electronic Stack (ES) is comprised of nine boards stacked side by side each in its own housing (crate). When assembled, the nine boards plug into a single back plane board in a mother/daughter board arrangement. The motherboard serves to interconnect the various daughterboards. The electronics of the UVI electronic stack and camera are entirely redundant and independent. There is no cross-strapping in the electrical design. This is done to eliminate single point failures. The boards and their function is listed below. The order corresponds to the assembly order beginning from left to right in the picture below.

 
Electrical Board Description/Function
Primary CPU the CPU board - contains the instrument processor and the s/c interface circuitry
Primary MEM the memory board - contains the memory RAM and ROM
Primary DET the camera detector interface board - receives the digitized data from the camera detector
Primary HSK the housekeeping board - processes and monitors the housekeeping data
Primary/Secondary MOT the motor control board - control the mechanisms for both the primary and secondary side - circuitry for both sides is separate
Secondary CPU the CPU board - contains the instrument processor and the s/c interface circuitry
Secondary MEM the memory board - contains the memory RAM and ROM
Secondary DET the camera detector interface board - receives the digitized data from the camera detector
Secondary HSK the housekeeping board - processes and monitors the housekeeping data
