This is a building-wide enrichment program consisting of a series of posters and accompanying questions designed to pique student interest in science concepts and their application to the world in which we live.

X-RAY Imaging using HERA

These directions allow students to open different images that have been collected from the ROSAT satellite. The directions instruct the user to open the website, but first the user will need to install Hera software.

MRC: Introduction to Mars and the Mars Rover Celebration Project (Grades 3-5)

Learners will read about Mars and then examine an unknown sample (such as a sandwich or "fun size" chocolate bar) to determine if the sample could have come from Mars.

Astronomy Training Module

Learners will predict how human survival requirements are met by characteristics of our solar system and planet. They engage in an online Astronomy Training module in which they make changes to the astronomical conditions of our solar system and observe the effects of these changes on Earth.

Water in the Hydrosphere

In this activity, participants learn about the hydrosphere by making observations and taking measurements. They will go outside and use scientific equipment to investigate temperature, pH and transparency of a body of water.

Scope It Out!

This online Flash game is hosted on the James Webb Space Telescope Web site. Because the Webb Telescope is unusual in appearance, it doesn't look like a telescope - but it actually does have a lot in common with simple tube-shaped telescopes.

Tilt a World

In this inquiry investigation, students discover that the Earth is tilted on its spin axis, and that the tilt is responsible for the seasons. Supplies required include a globe, flashlights, golf tees and blue-tak.

Earth Exploration Toolbook: Annotating Change in Satellite Images

This chapter walks users through a technique for documenting change in before-and-after sets of satellite images. The technique can be used for any set of time-series images that are spatially registered to show the exact same area at the same scale.
