The fourth and last of NASA’s “Great Observatories,” Spitzer scanned the sky near and far in infrared for 16+ years, revealing a wispy ring of Saturn, the most remote galaxy ever detected, and the first known star system with seven Earth-sized exoplanets: Trappist-1.
