Along the left bank of the Rhône River, orange to white rectangular salt pans are interwoven with coastal marsh along the Gulf of Lion at the bottom of the image. Additional gridded land along the coast, potentially also salt pans, vary in color from burnt orange, to seafoam and verdant green stand apart. To the right of the Rhône River is Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône. The shipping port and human settlement area  landscape appears streaked with gray and white around the gray concretes and brown roofed buildings.
