Saturn From Voyager 2
Voyager 2 was the third NASA spacecraft to study Saturn up close. This picture of Saturn was created using Voyager 2 images taken on Aug. 4, 1981, from a distance of 13 million miles (21 million kilometers). Three of Saturn's icy moons are easily seen at the left of Saturn. They are, in order of distance from the planet: Tethys, Dione, and Rhea. The shadow of Tethys appears on Saturn's southern hemisphere.
