Messier 81: Amateur Image vs. Hubble Image
Messier 81 (M81) is a spiral galaxy roughly 11.6 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. The heart of M81 holds a black hole that is 70 million times the mass of the Sun. The left image was taken with an 8-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope using a 0.63x focal reducer and a DSLR Camera. The right image was taken by NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope.
