Hubble Separates from Shuttle Atlantis

A STS-125 crewmember aboard the space shuttle Atlantis captured this still image of the Hubble Space Telescope as the two spacecraft continued their relative separation on May 19, 2009, after being linked together for the better part of a week during Servicing Mission 4. Five spacewalks were performed during the final servicing mission for the orbital observatory. The crew deployed the giant telescope at 7:57 a.m. (CDT).
