The image shows two sea surface topographic maps of the Pacific Ocean where elevation is indicated by color gradient. Neutral elevation is white, and below average elevation gradually more blue, and higher elevations are more red. The Image on the left has a dark red streak near the equator toward South America, and a dark blue region near Indonesia. On the right the elevation differences are not nearly as drastic and colors are much closer to neutral white on average.
