REACH: A Podcast for Kids ISS Downlink
REACH: A Space Podcast for Kids is a weekly, family friendly exploration of our galaxy (and beyond!) with hosts Brian Holden and Meredith Stepien. Built for kids and based on questions from kids, REACH features interviews with subject matter experts, interactive at-home activities, and conversations with celestial objects as voiced by well-known personalities from television and film.
REACH is the outreach project of Solar System Ambassador Sandy Marshall and co-creator Nate DuFort. It is primarily designed for young listeners (ages 8-12), though offers educational space & science content for learners of all ages, and so far engages an audience of about 25,000.
Among the guests for upcoming REACH podcasts are Dr. Jim Green, NASA Chief Scientist, and Mars mission planner Dr. Rachel Kronyak of JPL, who was inspired to pursue a career in Geology and work for NASA by Solar System Ambassador, Laura Jean Checki.
“On behalf of the REACH team (co-creator Nate DuFort, co-hosts Meredith Stepien and Brian Holden, and myself): thank you to the teams across NASA for the incredible opportunity to participate in an ISS Downlink, and a galactic thanks to NASA Astronauts Megan McArthur and Mark Vande Hei for joining from the ISS and sharing stories about teamwork, spacewalks, and birthdays in space!” – Sandy Marshall, Solar System Ambassador
