Throughout the history of the Hubble Space Telescope, countless memorable moments have been captured on video, live as it unfolded. Such notable events include the telescope’s launch and deployment, marathon spacewalks by brave astronauts determined to repair and upgrade the observatory, and press conferences that announced that the telescope’s vision was unexpectedly blurry and then to announce that it had been fixed.
An ongoing effort is underway to locate all of these recordings and make them easily available to anyone who would like access to them, from documentary makers, educators and historians to Hubble supporters across the globe. The collection is growing, and more footage will be made available as it is recovered and digitized.
