Endeavor Students Explore Data Analysis & Interpretation with My NASA Data
On September 29, 2021, Elizabeth Joyner (NASA Langley) presented My NASA Data resources to 12 K-12 educators enrolled in the NASA Endeavor Masters-Level course, "Eyes on Earth: Teaching Earth Science from Space." The presentation included an overview of My NASA Data resources that integrate NASA Earth data in a variety of curricular resources. Joyner also modeled how teachers and students may access NASA satellite data through the Earth System Data Explorer visualization tool to bolster more authentic learning through regionally relevant science lessons. Endeavor is made possible through a partnership among NASA, the Teacher's College at Columbia University, and U.S. Satellite Laboratory.
“I am a science research teacher who teaches at different schools and I have many students who are doing research with data sets. They are part of a 3-year science elective where students pick an area of science and/or math and research that topic. I want all kids to do some sort of data set study but I have no experience in that field. I want to learn ways to get more kids involved with real data.” -Jerry Z. Teacher, NY
