This true-color Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image shows a large plume of dust (light brown pixels) blowing westward from Syria over the island of Cyprus in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. This scene was acquired on October 19, 2002, by the MODIS sensor aboard NASA’s Aqua satellite.
