Spring Snow in the Upper Midwest

It was the last day of March, a time usually associated with flowers and green things, when the upper midwestern United States got hit with an intense spring snow storm. The storm left a swath of snow from Nebraska through Michigan. Its distinct edges make the belt of snow resemble the stroke of a paint-laden brush in this photo-like image captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite on April 1, 2008.
