The image features the blue-green Yukon River with a single meander at the top of the image otherwise a near straight connection to the bottom left of the image. A pale strip through the foliage inland of the river on the left appears to be the major road, with some side roads and farmed fields in the area. Left of the road appears to be entirely natural foliage. To the right of the river the land is a mix of dead brown and green living foliage and Swan Lake. On the banks of the lake, just below the image center the river narrows on both sides, labeled a scarp, one that is composed of landslide debris. The material looks bright near white in color compared to the surrounding landscape which is covered in foliage.

A Slumping Slide Into the Yukon River

The landslide struck a section of the Canadian river between Whitehorse and Lake Laberge and left a heap of debris large enough to narrow the river.
