WIYN/NEID Observing Opportunities

NN-Explore banner graphic

The NN-EXPLORE partnership funded Penn State to build and commission NEID, a precision radial velocity spectrograph. The instrument is installed as a facility-class instrument on the 3.5-m WIYN telescope.

NEID includes a solar telescope which provides daily solar data processed with the instrument. The solar and stellar data are archived at NExScI.

NN-EXPLORE makes available to the astronomical community 40% of WIYN time (~40 nights/semester of GO time) through the NOIRLAb time allocation committee (TAC) process. This time is made available to the scientific community to support NASA programs such as Kepler, K2, and TESS and initiatives such as EPRV.

Time Available on WIYN/NEID

Nights are available to the U.S. Astronomical community in the upcoming semester. The NEID spectrograph is designed specifically for extreme-precision radial velocity measurements. See the current call for proposals for details.
