Hubble Space Telescope Cycle 34 Call for Proposals; Proposals Due 16 April 2026

16 December 2025

We are pleased to announce the release of the Cycle 34 Call for Proposals for Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Observations and funding for Archival Research and Theoretical Research programs. Due to budget constraints, we expect funding to be lower than historic levels.

Participation in this program is open to all categories of organizations, both domestic and foreign, including educational institutions, profit and nonprofit organizations, NASA Centers, and other Government agencies.

This solicitation for proposals will be open through Thursday 16 April 2026 at 8p Eastern (5p Pacific). The submission portal will close promptly at the deadline and late submissions will not be accepted. The Astronomer’s Proposal Tool (APT), which is required for Phase I Proposal Submission, will be made available for Cycle 34 Phase I use by January 2026. Results of the selection will be announced in late July 2026.

All programmatic and technical information, as well as specific guidelines for proposal preparation, are available from the Current HST Proposal Opportunities Page.

Please take note of the What's New for Cycle 34 section on the announcement page. In particular, please note the new policy for the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence.

As with previous cycles, we will follow a dual-anonymous review. Proposals must be submitted in an anonymous format.

Please address questions to the STScI Help Desk at hsthelp.stsci.edu.
