NASA’s Roman Space Telescope: ‘Go’ for Launch

NASA Launch Manager Dr. Denton Gibson has given NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope mission a “go” to proceed toward launch.

Mission and launch teams are counting down to the 7:26 a.m. EDT liftoff of the SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Both Falcon Heavy and the Roman observatory have now switched to internal power, using internal batteries instead of ground power. At T-59 seconds, Falcon Heavy’s flight computer will begin its final prelaunch checks. The SpaceX launch director is expected to verify “go” for launch at T-45 seconds, followed by propellant-tank pressurization at T-20 seconds and the engine ignition sequence beginning at T-6 seconds.
