The space shuttle roars off the launchpad.

Endeavour Launches – Hubble Servicing Mission 1

On December 2, 1993, Space Shuttle Endeavour lifted off from Launch Pad 39B at Kennedy Space Center in Florida with a crew of six NASA astronauts and a Swiss mission specialist. Over the course of five days of spacewalks, the team would add new instruments and corrective optics to the Hubble Space Telscope, fixing the blurry vision that had affected the telescope since its launch in 1990 and ushering in a new era of cosmic imagery.
