Hubble Images Supernova 1987a
Even with its blurry vision, Hubble still provided valuable data to astronomers in the years before the first servicing mission. In one of the telescope’s first science results, Hubble observed the remnants of Supernova 1987A, as shared in a press release issued on August 29, 1990. In unprecedented detail, Hubble revealed characteristics in a shell of material surrounding the supernova.
