Image showing the data flow from Hubble. Using lines from one subject to the other, this image informs the viewer of how the data from Hubble gets down to Earth. Light from a distant celestial object hits Hubble's mirror and is recorded, Hubble sends that Data to a tracking and data relay satellite, the data is sent down to a Ground Station in White Sands, New Mexico, before finally being sent to Goddard Space Flight Center and the Space Telescope Science Institute in Maryland.
