This image indicates that the zoomed-in image of C56 was inset from another image from a ground-based telescope, which shows the whole blue bubble structure around the white dwarf star.

The ground-based image of Caldwell 56 (NGC 246) from the Digitized Sky Survey (DSS), in the lower right, shows the portion of the planetary nebula observed by Hubble’s Wide Field and Planetary Camera 2 (WFPC2) in the image at left.
