Two interacting galaxies centered in the image. The left galaxy is a spiral galaxy with its arms distorted and drawn out toward the left side of the image. The right galaxy has a long tail that extends to the upper-right corner of the image. Gas and dust also extends between the two galaxies.

Hubble Images Interacting Galaxies, The Mice or NGC 4676

Long streamers of stars and gas appear as tails in this Hubble image of the gravitationally interacting galaxies NGC 4676, nicknamed “The Mice.”
