Blaize A. Denfeld

Blaize A. Denfeld is an AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow at NASA HQ in the Earth, Surface and Interior Program.
Dr. Blaize Denfeld is an earth system scientist with expertise in freshwater ecosystems and carbon cycling. Throughout her career she has embraced multi-disciplinary and international research, spending two summers as a field assistant in the Kolyma River Watershed, Northeast Siberia and studying northern ice-covered lakes in Sweden and Finland. Blaize holds a B.A. in Earth System Science and M.A. in Geographical Information Science from Clark University and a Ph.D. in Limnology from Uppsala University (Sweden). She recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Umeå University (Sweden). Blaize also has a passion for understanding and facilitating scientific collaborations as well as utilizing different media to connect and communicate science.
