Jesse Lewis is the current Observatory Manager for the James Webb Space Telescope. Jesse joined JWST In August of 2025. Previously he served as the mechanical deployables lead for the Roman Space Telescope and has led many deployable and mechanism subsystems for robotic missions in low earth orbit, at L2 orbit and on Mars.

Jesse began his career in 2005 and has since led and delivered several spacecraft solar array, antenna and soft goods deployable systems, and  pointing, alignment and control mechanisms for several in-house missions at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center including but not limited to: the Sample Analysis at mars (SAM) Instrument,  the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) spacecraft, the Neutron star Interior Composition Explorer (NICER) Instrument, and the Roman Space Telescope (RST).

Jesse received a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland in 2005 and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland in 2009.
