Amendment 33: B.5 LWS Science Step-1 Proposal Due Date Delay.
ROSES-2021 Amendment 33 delays the due date for Step-1 proposals for B.5 LWS Science. Step-1 proposals are now due September 13, 2021. The due date for Step-2 proposals is unchanged, it remains November 18, 2021.
B.5 Living With a Star (LWS) Science emphasizes the science necessary to understand those aspects of the Sun and Earth's space environment that affect life and society. The ultimate goal of the LWS Program is to provide a scientific understanding of the system that leads to predictive capability of the space environment conditions at Earth, other planetary systems, and in the interplanetary medium. Every year the LWS Program solicits Focused Science Topics (FSTs) that address some part of this goal.
To be responsive, proposed investigations must have objectives suitable for one of the four following Focused Science Topics (FSTs) for proposals this year:
- Impact of Terrestrial Weather on the Ionosphere – Thermosphere (described in Section 2);
- Pathways of Cold Plasma through the Magnetosphere (described in Section 3);
- Understanding the Large-Scale Evolution of the Solar Wind throughout the Heliosphere through the Solar Cycle (described in Section 4); and
- Towards a Quantitative Description of the Magnetic Origins of the Corona and Inner Heliosphere (described in Section 5).
On or about August 24, 2021, this Amendment to the NASA Research Announcement "Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) 2021" (NNH21ZDA001N) delaying the Step-1 due date for B.5 LWS Science will be posted on the NASA research opportunity homepage at https://solicitation.nasaprs.com/ROSES2021.
