Elizabeth Joyner and Angie Rizzi presented My NASA Data (MND) Resources in two teacher professional development sessions virtually. GLOBE Mission Earth Langley team hosted a B-WET session for 17 elementary to high school teachers from schools in Defiance, OH; Toledo, OH; Detroit, MI; Marquette, MI; and Fredonia, NY.
The second session with Providence City Schools (Rhode Island) included 20 elementary to high school teachers who participate in the GLOBE program during the school year.
The MND team modeled how to locate, access, visualize, and download Earth data from the Earth System Data Explorer, as well as instructional strategies for developing students’ data literacy skills using these data. Angie Rizzi also reviewed the Elementary GLOBE Program for the Elementary Providence teachers.
Teacher feedback includes:
- The session “helped me think of different ways to have students analyze data”.
- “Earth System Data Explorer helps with DEIA as it allows for exploration of data in students’ home countries.”
- “I love that they are Google Classroom ready!”
