NASA Astro Camp® Community Partners Support Gulf Coast Students Seeking Careers

On the evening of October 25th, 2022, the NASA Astro Camp® Community Partners (ACCP) team participated in the Hancock High School College and Career Fair in Kiln, Mississippi as part of a collaborative partnership with NASA’s Southeast Regional Office of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Engagement, NASA Stennis Space Center’s Office of Communications, and Stennis Space Center’s Center Operations Directorate. This event facilitated face-to-face interactions for about 200 high school participants, schools, and career professionals in an effort to foster local interest in pursuing career opportunities. Conversation topics ranged from enrollment into colleges or universities, internship opportunities, and careers to technical center skills. The ACCP and partners provided information about internships and the many career opportunities within NASA, inspiring students of all academic and skill pathways to consider a possible future as part of NASA’s next generation.

Hosted by the Hancock County Career Technical Center, this event was open to public and private high school students throughout the Mississippi Gulf Coast area, including Hancock County, Harrison County, and Pearl River County city and county school districts. The event also included exhibitors from branches of the armed forces, other career technical centers, Pearl River Community College, Mississippi College, Mississippi Valley State University, Jackson State University, Mississippi State University, Delta State, Millsaps College, William Carey University, and Northshore Technical Community College.
