Solar Orbiter Launch and Hands-On Science with the Astromaterials Team

The Astromaterials Research and Exploration Science (ARES) Team, in partnership with the NASA Space Science Education Consortium (NSSEC), participated in a launch exhibit at the Kennedy Space Center in conjunction with the European Space Agency (ESA) and NASA’s Solar Orbiter Launch in February 2020.

The three day event took place from February 6-8th under the Atlantis Shuttle Exhibit reaching over 800 visitors.

To help showcase the Solar Orbiter Mission & highlight other missions to the Sun, the ARES team shared a hands-on activity highlighting the Genesis Samples Return Mission to the Sun, solar wind samples collected during the mission, and Subject Matter Experts including NASA’s Genesis Sample Curator.
