Cassini Significant Event Report
For Week Ending 07/09/99
Spacecraft Status:
The most recent spacecraft status is from the DSN tracking pass on
Thursday, 07/08, over the Canberra tracking station. The Cassini
spacecraft is in an excellent state of health and is operating normally. The speed of the spacecraft can be viewed on the "Where is Cassini Now?" web page (http://saturn.jpl.nasa.gov/operations/present-position.cfm)
The science data that was acquired during the Venus flyby was successfully
played back to Earth during the week following the encounter, with
completion on July 3.
On Thursday, 07/01, the CDA instrument was stowed and AACS parameters were
updated in preparation for TCM-9.
On Monday, 07/05, the TCM-9 sequence was uplinked to the Spacecraft and
began execution.
On Tuesday, 07/06, TCM-9 was completed with flawless performance from all
systems.
On Wednesday, 07/07, the Cruise 15 background sequence was uplinked to the
spacecraft.
Upcoming events for the period of 07/09 - 07/15 include:
Cruise 14 background sequence deregisters on board the spacecraft on 07/10,
Cruise 15 begins execution and the Off-Sun time constraint is set on 07/11, and
AACS Parameters are reset in preparation for TCM-10 on 07/14.

Cassini will begin orbiting Saturn on July 1, 2004, and release its piggybacked Huygens probe about six months later for descent through the thick atmosphere of the moon Titan. Cassini-Huygens is a cooperative mission of NASA, the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency.
