Where in the World?

 

Here's an opportunity to play geographical detective! This Multi-angle Imaging Spectroradiometer (MISR) imagewas acquired by the instrument's vertical-viewing (nadir) camera on June12, 2001. The swath is approximately 380 kilometers wide. Choose anyreference material you like and see if you can answer thesequestions:

1. This collection of islands, or archipelago, is part of whatcountry?

2. The first national park in the area was designated in 1989, andincludes a large complex of sand dunes. What is the park's name?

3. The Independence Day holiday is celebrated on October 10. Fromwhom was independence gained?

4. A tourist attraction is a 50-acre orchid garden started in 1977 byactor Raymond Burr. What is the name of the garden?
