On February 3, 2009, a dust plume blew off the coast of Libya and over the Mediterranean Sea, mingling with clouds as it moved. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite took this picture the same day. A pale beige plume blows almost straight north. Clouds obscure the land surface near the coast, but the plume has likely originated from sediments near the shoreline.
