NASA’s Cosmic Origins Early Career Workshop Is Finally Here!

NASA’s Cosmic Origins Program is excited to invite you to the first Early Career Workshop, designed to support and empower the next generation of astrophysics leaders and Principal Investigators. The workshop aims to provide insights to early career scientists about the wide range of work done in the Cosmic Origins Program, to explain and demonstrate the tools and opportunities available to them, and to answer any questions they may have.

Follow the link here to attend. Note: meeting links are listed at the top of each day in the agenda:

https://science.nasa.gov/astrophysics/programs/cosmic-origins/community/cosmic-origins-early-career-workshop-oct-2025/

The three days will be focused on Science (Day 1), Missions (Day 2) and Careers (Day 3).

  • On Day 1, we will provide participants with an overview of the science themes covered by Cosmic Origins and give early career scientists opportunities to share their research.
  • On Day 2, we will highlight the many NASA archives, data analysis tools, and upcoming proposal opportunities so that participants can see a clear path for themselves to get involved with NASA missions.
  • On Day 3, participants will engage with speakers who have taken a variety of career paths that have led them to NASA science and mission work.

We invite early-career scientists and engineers, students, and those who are interested in transitioning into astrophysics from other fields, to learn more about how to expand your career path across science, mission, and professional development to pursue roles across the broader physics and astronomy community.

Those who are interested to know more about advancing astrophysics careers and members across the broader physics and astronomy community are encouraged to attend!

A detailed agenda is attached via PDF to this email. Feel free to share this all whom you are interested in attending!

We’d like to thank all our speakers and look forward to engaging with everyone this week!

On behalf of the Workshop Science Organizing Committee,

Sabrina Stierwalt, Ron Gamble, Peter Kurczynski, Swara Ravindranath

An illustration of Sun-like star HD 181327 and its surrounding debris disk. The star is at top right. It is surrounded by a far larger debris disk that forms an incomplete ellpitical path and is cut off at right. There’s a huge cavity between the star and the disk. The debris disk is shown in shades of light gray. Toward the top and left, there are finer, more discrete points in a range of sizes. The disk appears hazier and smokier at the bottom. The star is bright white at center, with a hazy blue region around it. The background of space is black. The label Artist's Concept appears at lower left.
