July 2016 was a busy time for tropical cyclones in the Eastern Pacific.

On July 17, 2016, the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) on the Suomi NPP satellite acquired this natural-color image of Hurricane Darby and Tropical Storm Estelle.

The National Hurricane Center reported maximum sustained winds of 80 knots (90 kilometers per hour) for Darby and 60 knots (70 kilometers) for Estelle on July 17. These two storms follow on the heels of three other named storms that occurred in the Eastern Pacific recently—Agatha, Blas, and Celia.
