Smoky Mountains STEM Collaborative Presents at Project WILD
On May 26th, 2022, Matt Cass and Randi Neff of NASA’s Smoky Mountains STEM Collaborative were invited by Kal Mannis, Project WILD coordinator for Arizona, to present at the annual Project WILD meeting in Lake Logan, North Carolina. During their presentation to 30+ educators and professionals, Randi distributed handouts about clouds and mosquitos to highlight some of the fun activities provided by the Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) Program, while Matt showcased the GLOBE website (https://www.globe.gov/) and GLOBE Observer citizen science app, demonstrating how learners of all ages can collect and submit data as a citizen scientist.
The opportunity to present at this Project WILD event was made possible through a collaboration between the Smoky Mountains STEM Collaborative and the SciAct STEM Ecosystems project. Both projects are supported by NASA under cooperative agreement award numbers NNX16AB87A and 8ONSSC21M0007, respectively, and are part of NASA’s Science Activation (SciAct) Portfolio.
