What does GPM do?

GPM stands for Global Precipitation Measurement. GPM is actually a group of satellites from a lot of different countries. This satellite network measures rain and snow worldwide. The main GPM satellite (a partnership between NASA and Japan) has two instruments to measure precipitation from space. GPM helps us learn about Earth's water and energy cycles and improves forecasting of severe storms.
