Location: Chesapeake J/K/L

Abstract

In an effort to make science more engaging and informative, the NASA Cosmic Pathfinders is hosting a Jeopardy-style NASA astrophysics trivia game. This engaging and interactive session will offer conference attendees a chance to hear from the people animating the NASA missions that we all use. The latter half of this session will provide attendees a way to test their knowledge across various scientific topics and all things NASA astrophysics. This session is inspired by the popular game show Jeopardy format. Attendees will compete in teams to answer questions from categories such as physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy. This session is designed to create collaboration among attendees and learn more about the Cosmic Pathfinders program and NASA Astrophysics missions. Whether participants are undergraduate students, graduate students, early-career scientists, researchers, or science enthusiasts, everyone is welcome to join and challenge themselves in this trivia game.

An illustration of Sun-like star HD 181327 and its surrounding debris disk. The star is at top right. It is surrounded by a far larger debris disk that forms an incomplete ellpitical path and is cut off at right. There’s a huge cavity between the star and the disk. The debris disk is shown in shades of light gray. Toward the top and left, there are finer, more discrete points in a range of sizes. The disk appears hazier and smokier at the bottom. The star is bright white at center, with a hazy blue region around it. The background of space is black. The label Artist's Concept appears at lower left.
