Large Mission Studies

To support NASA's ASTRA initiative, the Exoplanet Exploration Program Analysis Group (ExoPAG) is organizing a series of webinars on Large-scale (>$1 billion) mission concepts.  The goal is to give the mission concept teams opportunities to identify potential new science cases; to identify interested community members who might want to support or join the mission concept effort; and to increase the visibility of all relevant projects at this early stage in the process.

The first of these will be on 7 May 2026 at 4p Eastern (1p Pacific), where we will hear presentations from:

  • Nautilus
  • Ardua
  • HOEE: Hybrid Observatory for Earth-like Exoplanets
  • MIRECLE: MIR Exoplanet CLimate Explorer

We anticipate having another 1-2 such webinars before the 14 June (hybrid) ExoPAG34 meeting, which will also focus mainly on mission concepts and ASTRA; stay tuned.

This cropped horizontal image has layers of semi-opaque rusty red colored gas and dust that starts at the bottom right and goes toward the top left. There are three prominent pillars rising toward the top left. The left pillar is the largest and widest. The peaks of the second and third pillars are set off in darker shades of brown and have red outlines.
