Dust storms continued in the Taklimakan Desert for a third consecutive day in early May 2008. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite took this picture on May 3, 2008.
In this image, the dust storm forms a nearly uniform, camel-colored blur over the northern half of the desert. Skies over the southern part of the desert are relatively clear, although tendrils of dust blow northward from the desert’s southern rim.
