Just days after a June 21 dust storm, another thick plume of dust blew off the east coast of Sudan on June 28, 2006. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) flying onboard NASA’s Aqua satellite took this picture the same day. In this image, the dust plume blows off the coast and forms an arc over the Red Sea, headed toward the southeast. Along the Sudanese coast is a dry salt lake, which could provide some of the dust in this storm.
