This Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) image reveals the scorching fire fronts of the Old and Grand Prix Fires that raged in the San Bernardino Mountains at the end of October 2003. The image combines infrared, near infrared, and green wavelengths (ASTER bands 4, 3, and 1). Vegetation is green, burned area is reddish, smoke is blue, and the blazing fire front is hot pink.
